Sport psychology techniques build confidence, foster consistency in performance, and help riders achieve their goals. The programs provided here are designed to strengthen the mental skills used in practice, lessons and competition. Peak Performance Techniques that riders may already know and use are strengthened, and new skills are taught to assist the rider in achieving their true potential.
In-Person Appointments
- Techniques include: Goal setting, Imagery, Positive Self Talk, Focus / Concentration, Relaxation, Energy Management, Centering, Pre-Performance Routines
- Appropriate for rider of all levels
- Personalized take-home materials are provided
- A package of weekly or bi-monthly sessions is recommended to begin, then appointments are scheduled on an as-needed basis (e.g. moving to a new division, before medal finals, etc.)
- All ages
- Recreational riders welcome
- Sessions at your barn may be scheduled in the San Francisco Bay Area

- Athletes from all sports are welcome
Phone Appointments
- Phone sessions cover all of the same material as in-person sessions
- Morning and evening scheduling also available
- Support for riders on the road and at shows

Sport Psychology for Riders: Part I
- Classroom-style clinic orients riders to basic sport psychology techniques (2.5 hours)
- Topics addressed may include:
- building confidence on a new horse or in a new division
- maximizing focus in lessons and at shows
- setting personal performance goals and success strategies
- increasing awareness and control over self-talk
- dealing with fear and nerves
- 6 - 12 people per group
- Clinics held at your facility
- Take-home materials and strategies to implement immediately are provided
Sport Psychology for Riders: Part II
- Riding clinic with 1.5 hour sessions
- Creative and challenging exercises on horseback which highlight and put into action the various sport psychology techniques
- 3 - 5 people per group
- Trainers are present in the ring to handle any training issues that may come up
- Hands-on tailoring of the techniques to meet individual needs
