  • Guest:  Vanessa Haas Hood, Vanessa started riding at the age of 5 in Malibu, California. She grew up competing in the pony, hunter, equitation and jumper ranks. Her early career highlights include: Grand Champion at Pony Finals, multiple championships in the junior hunters at indoors, winning the Ronnie Mutch Equitation Championship at WEF, winning the Individual Gold Medal at the Prix de States, and competing on the US team at the World Cup Finals in Leipzig, Germany at age 20. After attending Yale, she took over a decade off from horses to work in government and business. After returning to the sport in 2017, she quickly realized that working with horses and competing in show jumping is her life’s work. She won her first grand prix in Del Mar in 2019 and became the USEF National Champion in the High Amateur Owner Jumper division in 2021. She currently shows at the international Grand Prix level and competes as part of Major League Show Jumping on team Lugano Diamonds. Vanessa is based in Wellington, Florida with her husband Gavin and daughter Milly.
