Topics included: assessment of athlete’s response to injury; exploration of the stages of grief models as related to injury and rehabilitation; tailoring mental techniques to be effective in enhancing rehabilitation and building mental strength; and facilitating successful re-entry into sport. - “Outstanding Teacher of the Year” Graduate School of Professional Psychology, John F. rode in groups with Paul and rotated through a classroom session where they learned mental skills for
riders with Tonya. On the second day, riders warmed-up in a separate ring, went over mental preparation with Tonya,
then rode rounds in a simulated horse show environment where they were scored, and then heard a
judge’s perspective offered by Paul.
